Acoufelt’s acoustic products are manufactured in Australia, North America and Thailand.
FilaSorb™ felt is the primary material in our wall and ceiling products. This high quality
material is made from 100% polyester, a minimum of 60% of which is comprised of recycled PolyEthylene
Acoufelt’s primary material components – FilaSorb™ felt – is made from regenerated PET fibers with a minimum of 60% recycled content. We test our acoustic products against a number of internationally recognized environmental and human safety standards and accreditations, to ensure our products can be manufactured safely and are safe for human use. Read more about these standards and accreditations here.
Standard lead time is 4-6 weeks from the time drawings are approved and the deposit is received. Expediting is available for some products. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 800. 966.8557 for more information.
We test the acoustic performance of our products with a full room reverberation test in a laboratory following ASTM C423 or AS ISO 354 standards. The results are documented in NRC values (Noise Reduction Coefficient) on our specification sheets across all our wall, ceiling, ancillary, and floor products.
Acoufelt is a manufacturer and does not offer installation. Our Acoustic products are typically installed by a contractor that specializes in painting and drywall.
Our products are made from breathable materials and can be installed in conditions with high humidity without affecting standard performance. However, to ensure maximum adhesion is maintained, we recommend you speak with your installer to discuss the most appropriate installation method for your environment.

FilaSorb™ has absorbent and breathable properties. Any moisture that comes in contact with the material will disperse and evaporate quickly. A dry panel will not promote the growth of microbes such as bacteria, mold, and mildew.
Research indicates viruses become inactive more quickly on porous and absorbent surfaces – FilaSorb™ is both. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine¹ on the detectability of the virus across a range of common surfaces indicates porous and fibrous materials were much less likely to hold viable amounts of the virus, traces of which were detected on the test material for only 24 hours. In comparison, the same test showed that the virus was able to stay active on hard and shiny surfaces for up to 72 hours.
No. Anti-microbial liquids have not been proven to be safe for workplaces, as they may contain harmful VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). We continue to research and evaluate safe and environmentally friendly options.
FilaSorb™products can be cleaned using a mild soap and warm water solution, using a gentle blotting technique. When cleaning panels, apply minimal pressure and avoid concentrated rubbing. Disinfectant spray, steam extraction, and UV light are also acceptable cleaning methods.
