Acoufelt is very pleased to announce that Professor Emeritus Colin Hansen has accepted an invitation to join its advisory board. Professor Hansen is a distinguished mechanical engineer with a long and impressive history of working in the area of acoustics.
At the heart of the Acoufelt approach is the Acoustic FWC™ philosophy: looking at every surface of a space – floor, walls and ceiling – as a potential means of absorbing unwanted noise. Acoufelt is committed to this approach to solving customer acoustic problems – Making Quiet™ for a real impact.
Acoufelt is in the process of handpicking a diverse range of experts to augment our in-house skills with the specific brief to advance thought leadership and make Acoufelt an unparalleled leader in the acoustic materials industry. The Acoustic FWC™ Philosophy, combined with several innovative offerings has set the vibrant market disruptor apart from other companies in the market.
Prof. Hansen has been working in the field of noise and vibration for 40 years, first as a Ph.D. student, then as a consultant in the USA (four years) and Australia (three years), and finally in an academic post at The University of Adelaide, where he has been responsible for more than 100 consulting projects in noise and vibration control. He has authored or co-authored 13 books, edited two books, contributed seven chapters to many books, and co-authored or authored more than 300 papers in international journals and conference proceedings on acoustics and vibration. Prof. Hansen is a past president and an Honorary Fellow of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV). He is a Fellow of the Australian Acoustical Society and a Fellow of Engineers Australia, received the 2013 A.G.M. Michell medal from Engineers Australia for outstanding service to the discipline of Mechanical Engineering, the 2014 Rossing Prize in Acoustics Education from the Acoustical Society of America, and was the recipient of two Erskine Fellowships.
“Professor Hansen has already attended an advisory board committee meeting and made an instant impact on the business. We are looking for the very best people across the world to drive the thought leadership program at Acoufelt”, says Mr Neale. “As a mechanical engineer and in the field of acoustics, Professor Hanson certainly fits the bill. He has hundreds of peer-reviewed publications to his credit, has been a sought-after Keynote speaker for more than 20 years, and in 2009 he was awarded the Rayleigh medal by the British Institute of Acoustics for his outstanding contributions to the field”.
